The Maternal Child Health (MCH) Program in the Center for Local Public Health Services is seeking experienced public health nurse applicants for the Public Health Senior Nurse position in the Northwest District of Missouri. The office for this position is currently located in Independence, Missouri, and there is also the option of relocating the office to Cameron, Missouri. A Public Health Senior Nurse is needed to serve as a liaison with local public health agencies, other Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) programs, and regional and state coalitions and collaboratives, and to provide technical assistance, consultation, training, and contract oversight to local public health agencies in the northwestern region of Missouri. This position will provide ongoing support to local public health agency staff for development of local systems of care and to address priority health issues in the maternal child population. Applicants should be competent in providing consultation and support on conducting outcome-evaluation, developing evidence-based action plans, building effective community partnerships and coalitions, strategic planning, and effective communication of messages to achieve desired changes in behavior and norms. Applicants should possess extensive knowledge of population-based health, public health nursing, and maternal child health and demonstrate sound nursing judgment, advanced critical thinking ability, strong organization and prioritization skills, and effective communication skills. This position involves travel primarily in the northwest region of Missouri, as well as occasional travel to Jefferson City for meetings, training, etc., and may require occasional overnight stays.
