Purpose: If we take a step back and think about it, the vast majority of health care professionals have the skill set to be effective leaders and have a positive impact on their teams. The issue becomes when problems arise in real time. Leaders need to be able to prioritize and adjust to the reality that is presented. All of this has to be done without the luxury of additional time to confront these issues. This interactive workshop will give you tips to be a better leader.
Objectives
1. Discuss ways to talk to staff about difficult topics.
2. Identify ways to make sure you feel comfortable taking a day off.
3. Recognize ways to communicate with families about unrealistic expectations or misplaced anger.
Speaker: Michael O’Dea, LNHA, Executive Director, Windsor Estates of St. Charles
