Life After April 1, 2012

Basics of MDS Billing

Purpose: To provide SNFs with the basic requirements for billing the Medicare MDS/PPS assessments. This session will explain the complexity of billing the many PPS assessments and how non-compliance of the PPS scheduled and unscheduled assessments will impact the SNFs bottom-line.

RAI Process from Start to Finish

Purpose
This workshop will look at the RAI process from beginning to end. The MDS is used for both a clinical assessment and a financial assessment and this workshop will discuss the rules on scheduling these assessments and meeting the requirements individually and combined. Item-by-item coding will be reviewed. From coding the MDS, we will then look at the CAA to care plan process. An overview of the Medicare requirements that need to be followed for appropriate reimbursement will be discussed. Finally, we will review how to stay up-to-date in this ever-changing world of MDS 3.0.

Purpose
This advanced RAI session will help participants identify tools that will facilitate improvements in patient/resident outcomes, both clinical and financial. The new QI/QM Reports are to be available in April, and we will discuss ways to use the reports for quality improvement through a team approach. CMS hot topics and common survey issues will be reviewed as they pertain to the care of residents.

QIS - The Basics

Purpose
To details the Quality Indicator Survey (QIS) process used by state surveyors and teaches providers how the QIS tools and procedures can be used in their own quality assurance and improvement programs. This program is an ideal introduction to the QIS for everyone in your facility including administrators, directors of nursing, social workers, dietary managers, nurse managers, activities managers, and consultants. Led by Nursing Home Quality QIS Instructors, this course includes a general orientation and introduction to the QIS process, as well as a comparison of the QIS with the traditional survey process. The course also provides instruction on the use of CMS QIS forms and procedures for Stage I, Facility Tasks, and Stage II investigation. Course registrants will receive guidance on how the QIS forms and procedures can be used by nursing facilities in their ongoing quality assurance efforts.
